Oncologist
A doctor who specialises in diagnosing and treating cancer.
Definition
An oncologist is a physician who specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. There are several sub-specialties: medical oncologists use drugs (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy); radiation oncologists use precisely targeted radiation; surgical oncologists remove tumours operatively; hematologic oncologists focus on blood and bone-marrow cancers. Dr. Rehan Abdullah is dual-trained as a clinical & radiation oncologist, which means a single physician plans and delivers both the chemotherapy and the radiation components of a patient's care.
